Clemson left-handed pitcher Sam Weatherly was selected by the Colorado Rockies with Thursday's ninth pick of the third round in the Major League Baseball Draft.
His approximate pick value according to MLB.com is just over $755,000. He's the highest Clemson pitcher taken since former Byrnes star Daniel Gossett went in the second round to Oakland in 2014 and is the fifth-highest Tiger overall selected the past eight seasons.
