Grab your binoculars to join Historic Columbia and local birder John Tjaarda for a free, guided bird walk around the Hampton-Preston Gardens to learn about the many local and migratory birds in Columbia. With the Hampton-Preston gardens playing host to over 100 bird species over the course of the year, participants will learn how to identify birds by sight, sound, and behavior.
Please meet at the front gate of the Hampton-Preston Mansion Gardens, located on Blanding Street. Binoculars are highly recommended but not required.
The bird walk is free, however, registration is required. This event is capped at 25 participants.There is free street parking located around the Hampton-Preston Mansion. Please obey all posted parking signs.This program will not take place if it is raining or if winds exceed 25 MPH. Please check the forecast before arriving. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Bug spray is recommended during warmer months.If you are unable to attend, we ask that you reach out prior to the event so that we may open additional spots to those on the waitlist.
