Spoiler Alert: "Madden NFL" Video Game Predicts Rams Will Win Super Bowl

The 'Madden NFL' video game predicts that the LA Rams will beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl

Electronic Arts, the company behind the popular Madden NFL video game franchise, announced the results of its annual simulation of the teams playing in this year's Super Bowl. According to the simulation, people watching the big game this Sunday can look forward to a 30-27 victory by the Los Angeles Rams.

Based on the simulation run by EA, the game looks like it will be a compelling one. The Rams have the edge, thanks largely to defensive lineman Aaron Donald, who earns the imaginary MVP honors with four sacks of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

According to EA's simulation, the Patriots take the lead in the first half of the game, running up a 17-3 lead over the Rams. After the half, the Rams' offense comes alive, tying the game 20-20 by the time the fourth quarter rolls around.

The Rams kicker, Greg Zuerlein is able to make a 53-yard field goal, giving L.A. the edge. But, EA has the Patriots fighting back, with Tom Brady throwing a touchdown to give the Patriots a 27-23 lead. But, once Goff gets the ball back, the Rams march their way down the field for a final touchdown, with running back Todd Gurley running in the winning goal.

EA is also betting on Rams quarterback Jared Goff matching Brady and his crew of receivers. The simulation has Goff with 303 passing yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Rams receiver Robert Woods is good for eight catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman had eight catches for 104 yards and a touchdown.

And while the Madden NFL game has had a good track record in the past, guessing correctly 10 of the 15 time, you probably shouldn't run out to bet the farm on the game's predictions. Last year, EA predicted the Patriots would beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20. Instead, the Eagles crushed the Patriots, 41-33.

The video game did get things right with Super Bowl LI, even calling the Patriots' dramatic come-from-behind win.

Super Bowl LIII is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, February 3rd at 6:30 p.m. on CBS. You can stream the game online here.
