Carolina chooses its quarterback...the Gamecocks announced Collin Hill won the starting job for next Saturday’s season opener against Tennessee. Hill, a Colorado State transfer, beat out last year’s starter Ryan Hilinski after a spirited competition involving three preseason scrimmages. Hilinski performed better in the first scrimmage, Hill came out on top in the second scrimmage, and the two QBs both played well in the third. Coach Will Muschamp says it was a hard decision and that the Gamecocks can win with both Hill and Hilinski. Five Carolina players made the coaches pre-season All-SEC teams--Sadarius Hutcherson, Israel Mukuamu and Aaron Sterling made the second team, and Jaycee Horn and Ernest Jones landed on the third-team squad.
