Clippers Fans Are Putting Up Kawhi Leonard Billboards in Los Angeles

Just a couple weeks before arguably the most important free agent signing period in sports history, the city of Los Angeles is going through last ditch efforts to recruit the game’s best player to that OTHER team in the Staples Center.

Clippers fans have been funding giant billboards all around the city of Los Angeles trying to woo superstar free agent Kawhi Leonard, as the two-time NBA Finals MVP is the crown jewel of an NBA free agency period that will go down as one of the most celebrated in basketball history.

One such billboard showed Kawhi’s picture next to a ‘King of SoCal’ etching, with ‘King of the North’ scribbled out with red paint.

The Clippers have some of the most infamous history of any professional franchise in North American sports, at one point finishing with 12 consecutive losing seasons from 1993 to 2005 and finishing with one of the worst records in sports history when they went 9-41 during the NBA’s strike-shortened season of 1998/1999. As a franchise the team is 1610-2360 all-time, second only to the Minnesota Timberwolves for lowest winning percentage in the NBA history.

Kawhi is a Los Angeles native who played high school ball at Canyon Springs in Moreno Valley, CA. and at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, CA.

Many around the league have speculated that the Clippers remain the favorites to sign the 27-year-old who has won titles with two different franchises.
