Georgia linebacker Adam Anderson is currently being investigated on a rape allegation by the Athens Clarke-County Police Department. According to several reports a 21-year-old woman told police she was raped by Anderson on Friday, Oct. 29. No arrests have been made, nor have charges been filed, but the investigation is ongoing and the woman has been interviewed by Athens-Clarke County police.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart released the following statement.
“We are aware of the report and we don’t comment on law enforcement matters, but I’ve been clear about the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field,” Smart said. “I will be working closely with our administration to ensure we cooperate fully with all law enforcement and campus protocols.”
Anderson denies the accusation through his attorney.
Anderson, a senior, is one of the best players on Georgia’s defense, which is allowing just 6.6 points per game. Anderson has 32 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and leads the team with five sacks. He is considered a potential first-round draft pick.
